A Load Break Switch is used at 11 kV sub-stations to make and break load current safely and to isolate the transformer for maintenance. Over-current and short-circuit protection is provided by HRC fuses, giving a compact and economical HT incomer for small and medium sub-stations.

A standard Neutral LBS panel carries three current transformers, two or three potential transformers, three ammeters and a voltmeter with selector switch, in a 1000 × 1000 × 1800 mm cubicle weighing about 450 kg. Panels are wired, labelled and tested before delivery.
